Origin of the name
The typicality of this vast production derives from their very ancient origin, intended for use as containers of oil, wine and products to be preserved with the old systems in oil, in salt, in vinegar and as utensils at the service of housewives for the most various uses at home.
The flasks have onomatopoeic names, which originate from the sounds they emit when empty, such as "trimmone", "ciotle" and "vummili".
The vummile is a characteristic terracotta jar used in the past by farmers to store fresh water, essential during work in the fields. Today, both raw and enamelled in various colours, it is a highly sought-after furnishing accessory.
